Calypso is the person with whom I have been friend for a long time for 7 years. She writes amazingly but is too introvert to come out in the open. Seeing her write beautiful verses, I forced to write a poem for my blog every month. Her poem is titled Faces:
The stars grow dim, the clouds roll out,
Gone is the lonely night.
Tis’ time to rise and greet the world,
You can’t stay out of sight.
Walking through the streets you see
A thousand different places,
A thousand eyes that pass you by
From a thousand different faces.
They’re all around you everywhere,
How then can you feel so alone?
Lost in a sea of a thousand faces,
All trying to find their way home.
And if you see a face you know
And stop to catch its eye,
And silently plead it to look a bit deeper…
Well it won’t, it can’t see what’s inside.
We live on a planet full of faces,
Each unique under the skin.
But who would know, for they seem the same –
Too scared to confront what’s within.
Some of the faces laugh on the surface,
Some of the faces don’t see you,
Some of them do their best to reach out,
Some of them just look right through.
So many faces wherever you go,
But at night when you fall asleep,
Some stay on in your heart, and you know,
They’ll come dancing into your dreams.
